Sara Kellahan is a nurse practitioner at Washington University School of Medicine at the Living Well Center where she practices lifestyle medicine. Her professional training began with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Belmont University. She then worked at Vanderbilt University Medical Center initially inpatient and then outpatient at the Comprehensive Care Clinic.
Sara obtained her Masters of Science in Nursing at Goldfarb School of Nursing in St. Louis before beginning her career at WashU Rheumatology. She has since transitioned to her current role and is now certified in lifestyle medicine through the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine.
In her current practice she supports the utilization of lifestyle medicine for health optimization for those with musculoskeletal conditions. In her work she implements lifestyle medicine interventions (nutrition, movement, stress support, sleep optimization, avoidance of risky substances and social connectivity) to prevent and treat chronic disease. One of her main roles at the WashU Living Well Center is to facilitate shared medical appointments which are multidisciplinary group visits that provide support for patients working towards health goals through lifestyle medicine. She is also a part of the Female Athlete Program at WashU Orthopedics which provides holistic physical and mental health supports for female athletes.
In the past she has volunteered as a YoungLives mentor and provided educational classes on health for teen moms. She has traveled to Haiti for medical volunteer work. She has volunteered as a provider with Casa De Salud’s clinic.
She is personally interested in the intersection of health and nature and loves spending time with her family in Tower Grove Park. She and her husband attend South City Church in Shaw and send their children to one of the Urban Education alliance schools.
