Dear friends of the Green House Venture,
We are participating once again this year in Give STL Day, which will be held on Wednesday, May 10, and we are asking for your generous support.
Give STL Day, hosted by the St. Louis Community Foundation, is a 24-hour, online day-of-giving event, designed to ignite the spirit of generosity across the region. Since its inception in 2014, Give STL Day has raised millions of dollars for morethan 900 regional non-profit organizations. This year, with your help, we are eager to make Give STL Day even more successful. Your generous support is especially important now as we have officially launched our Growing Forward campaign to raise funds for the next phase of our work to begin construction of the “crown jewel” of our GHV Campus, a state-of-the-art Education Center.
The Green House Venture is a unique STEM program taught in a working urban agricultural environment, involving students from four elementary schools in South Central St. Louis:
St. Margaret of Scotland (Parochial)
St. Louis Language Immersion School (Charter)
Mullanphy Investigative Learning Center (Public Magnet)
Tower Grove Christian Academy (Christian)
Our more than 1,500 students in those schools represent a diverse socio-economic and geographic spectrum. Reaching beyond the GHV Campus, the Venture plans to employ advanced technology, including growing chambers and communication channels to share its programs with other elementary schools across the St. Louis region and beyond.
Our educational programs focus on instilling an understanding and appreciation for the processes and cycles of nature, health and nutrition. A central goal is to foster a culture of science with aspiring young people that opens a pathway to scientific careers.
This is the 4th year for The Green House Venture participating in Give STL Day. We were very pleased with the outpouring of support and the increased public awareness and visibility it has given us.
